I have a gold plated Pontiac watch with three stars and the word ‘hydraulica’ on the back, probably made in 1961. The watch was presented to my grandfather in recognition of managing Rialto cinemas from 1921 to 1961 in Holland including Alkmaar and Amsterdam.

I think we used to have a few of this small Pontiac sportscars here… Fiero or something. Looked quite bad actually Google on “Opel Manta” and you get the idea of the European contra car

Hi Ariel,

Pontiac was a Belgium brand, and made in Switzerland. Pontiac watches are quite famous here in The Netherlands and Belgium, not in the last place because they sponsored Wim van Est (Tour de France). You can read more about him here: http://www.cyclingnews.com/features/van_est.shtml

The models they made had either 1, 2 or 3 stars on the dial. The three star series had the most watch models, with different features/functionality.

You will see a lot of these watches for sale on ‘market’ websites in The Netherlands.
