A new month and a new watch giveaway - this time you have a chance at winning a free watch from probably the largest Swiss watch maker, Swatch. The ubiquitous watch brand is the poster child of the Swatch Group, that timepiece that made Swiss watches cool again back in the 1980's. Swatch has come a long way and now has a great new line of automatic chronograph movement based watches, known appropriately as the Swatch Auto Chrono line. There are 5 new models, and each contains a brand new ETA automatic chronograph movement that is based on the classic Lemania 5100. See my review of another Swatch Automatic Chrono model in the same collection here.
aBlogtoRead.com is giving away one of the pictured watches pictured above, it is known as the Swatch Automatic Chrono "Simply Pure." It is about 45mm wide, has a sapphire crystal, stylish, and comes on the black rubber strap. I will be reviewing a different version of the new Swatch Automatic Chrono watches here soon. Retail price for this watch is $370, higher than most Swatch watches you are used to, but this is a different watch all together! Though you still get the innovative inviting styling that you come to expert from the iconically Swiss brand. Learn more about the line or get one at Swatch here.

I like it very much!
A Swatch was the first watch I ever owned. They made telling the time an artistic expression and were tough as well as fun.
It would be cool to wear one again!
I once owned a number of Swtach watches. After that I haven’t really paid much attention to Swtach watches. However; during the last years they’ve come up with some really swassy pieces.
I can honestly say that i would be proud to wear one of the new classy swtch watches today.
The first watches I had were Swatches. This is even more for my wife (see stil has over 35 swatches). At the time I found them very modern and nice to ware.
Later on bought many other watches of several other brands, but not Swatch. The model i=on display here gives me back a bit of that old feeling, its is a good looking watch.
All the Swatches watches I owned so far have been enduring very hard wearing conditions.
All of them were partly damaged at a moment and lost one of their horns, a part of the bracelet or of the bezel.
In spite of these rough treatments, none of them have been destroyed and the time was kept normaly.
The battery is still the only point that has to be managed and replaced.
I am pleased to see that all the strengths of a Swatch watch are now combined with an automatic movement. The is no denying that the loop is now done and that the Swatch is now on the road of everlasting myths.
The last Swatch I purchased was an Olympic Chrono from the Barcelona Olympics in ,92.
I stopped wearing this in the late 90’s but my son (who wasn’t born until 1993) has been wearing it since he was about 4 and it finally ‘passed away’ last year, the case was cracked and reglued numerousd times and it slipped off his wrist and disappeared whilst he was sailing in the Outer Dock here in Canary Wharf.
It will be missed.
I don’t own any Swatch watches now, but I used to. I got one for my tenth birthday which I was really proud of (my first grown-up watch!), but I lost it while moving to Berlin 8 years later. Mr. Adams: I could sure use this one now!
One of the first watches I ever owned was a Swatch watch. The brand has grown and now is making watches that are not only modern looks and sizes, but still as cool and edgy and “hot” as they ever were. I would love to win this Swatch watch because from looking at the current lines, and the watch being offered here – and they are just really nice watches that I would love to own, AND WEAR on a regular basis. Fantastic looking watches that are also really well made.
Thank you for this great contest Ariel!
That’s a nice looking Swatch! Please enter me in the competition.
I have a special place in my heart for Swatch chronometers ever since my wife bought one for me while pregnant with our first child. She got it for me so that I could help time her contractions when she went into labor. I’m happy to say that the watch performed perfectly and that it gave me something to do (and helped keep me sane) during all the screaming!
Very cool. I love that watch.
About 20 years ago, I worked for the local office of American Airlines. The company sent me to Dallas an d AA headquarters for training and while there, I bought a black Swatch with gray & white accents. For the 6 weeks I was in Dallas, no one even noticed my Swatch, but on returning to my job here in Jamaica, I was told by superiors that it did not “fit the corporate dress code” and that I should desist from wearing it. I didn’t spend too long a time with that company.
My love for Swatches started early this summer. I got my first Swatch chronograph; the Summer Curves. I loved it so much, I wanted to share this passion with my entire family.
What better way to share the joys of Swatch, then with a two-meter tall vintage Maxi! It might not be wearable, but it sure turns heads. Here’s my brother holding it up:

If that’s not *big* Swatch lovin’, I don’t know what is
I remember the Swatches that were in style when I was in highschool. The clear /see through ones were all the rage. The solid colors were more of a fashion accessory for the “cool” people. Of course, I was a nerd who’d saved his money for my first TAG but that didn’t make me cool, I wanted a damn Swatch !!
I’ve never actually owned a Swatch, which is really sad actually. However the one standout experience I have is that of swatch on my best friends wrist during the final high school exams. The time piece was so loud that the ticking was heard over the scribbling pens of 20 Biology students.
Cheers.
i’ve enjoyed my swatches and thought that my scuba was super cool.
I remember Swatches from back in the day. Never owned one as I thought they looked like cheap toys. This Swatch, however, is a different story. It looks built for business and I’d love to see one on my wrist.
I remember having a Swatch watch in grade school with the optional guard that you snap on. I thought I was the man until my friend showed his limited edition art series swatch. Man I was so jealous. Times were simple then.
I’ve not looked at Swatch watches in recent years but seeing this one, they’ve come a long way! Very grown up.
I guess for someone my age, a Swatch was a must have or their first swiss watch expirience. I’m no exception. I bought at the age of 10 my first Swatch with my “vacacionista” christmas season job a great looking Scuba (black with orange accents). It lasted around 2 years and I wore it proudly unitl the rubber strap gave away. I searched and searched for a replacement, but back then the internet was not widely available in my country. So, I stopped carrying it in my pocket and finally put it away. Not long ago, my grandmother, which likes to keep everything, told me she had some watches and if I wanted to keep them… guess what: there it was my good old Swatch!
Cheers to all!
I was born in Russia and came to the States when I was 7 years old in 1990. My father used up the last of the Russian Rubels that he had (which were useless once we left) to buy two watches – one for him and one for me. Both of them were Swatches. To this day, my father keeps them under lock & key as a reminder.
Like many that have already commented, a Swatch was the first wrist watch I’ve ever owned.
My sister was the one who had a collection of Swatch watches, including one of those two-meter long versions that you would hang from your ceiling and use as a wall clock.
I’ve been hunting around for a automatic chrono watch and this is certainly on the short list. It’s even better if it’s free.
Swatches are the watches that started me down the slippery slope of watch collecting. I got my first Swatch in the days when wearing multiple Swatches was the cool thing to do.
My first Swatch had a skeleton face. Seeing the movement, even if it was quartz, was the coolest thing ever.
I still have several Swatches in my collection. Swatch still has the ability to put a clever movement in unassuming watches, whether it is a multiple time zone watch that you tap to see the other time or a Musicall Swatch with an alarm composed by Philip Glass.
My guess is that this budget chrono movement will be extremely successful in the future. I like to think that this early versions will be something of a collector items in a few tens of years.
So owning one will be a pleasure.
My Wife and I just purchased a Swatch watch for our Niece for Christmas. The watch arrives and a bulb goes off in my head. I spring to the basement and open a box of old high school “stuff” and pull out a bunch of swatch protectors! One that goes around the edge of the face as well as the rubber one that stretched across the crystal. I knew I kept them for a reason!
Great looking watch, please enter me into the contest.
This is a nicely designed watch.
It has the features and look that I personally look for in a watch.
Clean and elegant and functional with good materials all in one.
Wow nice looking chrono from swatch..! Similar to a lot of people here one of my first watches was a swatch, so it definitely had a part of the beggining of this “sickness” that is being a watch lover…
However, I mostly remember swatch for teaching me a lesson in honesty when I was about 12…I was in a school fair and bought a pizza slice for $1, payed with a $10 and and got $15 back in change from the cashier…. I noticed the mistake yet kept quiet, next thing I know I banged the watch against a door frame, it got loose and fell off my wrist, the crystal shattered…needless to say, lesson learned!
Love the over all design
Very classy watch. I especially like the blue hands, very expensive looking. My favorite Swatch was the scuba one I dove with maybe 15 years ago. It was great and I dove with it until the battery needed to be replaced then didnt want to risk it. Blue and green color if I recall correctly
I have had many Swatches in my youth, but my favorite was one that had an automatic movement. It was because of that watch, I grew to love horology. I have several watches now with automatic movements and still have that automatic movement Swatch that started it all.
I had a sweet Blue Man Group Swatch watch that was really a lot of fun to wear. Swatch watches remind me of youth!
I would love to win this more adult looking Swatch!
I was not able to jump on the fad of the Swatch models that were so popular in the 1980’s in the US. However, I appreciate the brand and the full line of watches they offer.
I got two gag gifts for my bachelor party/wedding shower years ago, both I did not want. I went to my local novelty store and exchanged them for a great Swatch watch which I wear nearly every week. Keeps great time and looks good. Was even asked about it at a local Swatch store.
Well, I bought my first Swatch in the middle of 80s, when Poland was still under communist regime. Swatch watches were available only in Pewex shops which carried Western goods otherwise not available here and I had to pay for it in US$ bought on a black market.
I’m just getting into watches and need a nice, affordable automatic chrono!
I don’t know about a fun story, but a Swatch was what I bought with my first ever pay packet. I only ended up with two of them and both developed an odd behaviour where they stopped working if they weren’t worn for a few days. Jealous watches?
The dive model I had actually stood up well when used as a dive watch. Fun watches.
Swatch is largely responsible for my love of watches and my out of control collection. When Swatch was at the height of it’s popularity in the mid 80’s I can recall going to a sandwich shop and having the counter guy comment on my Swatch. He’d been looking for the model I was wearing, and he had one that I’d been looking for. As all the Swatch models were priced roughly the same, there was no haggling – we swapped right on the spot before completing the sandwich order.
My brother bought me my first Swatch in the 80’s. I thought is was the coolest thing ever.
I really like the updated Swatch look – definite step in the right direction. I would certainly like to have a sporty/casual watch for everyday use.
I have never had a Swatch watch or a Swiss Watch for that matter. This seems like a great chance to break the seal.
when i was in the 6th grade, oh about 25 years ago, i remember a friend of mine showing off his new Swatch. i believe it was skeleton automatic because i remember him telling me it didn’t require batteries. i loved it. i wanted it so badly, but couldn’t afford it — i was only 12 or so. i never did get that watch and Swatches have eluded me since. i can’t think of a better first Swatch than this one.
Well, I have been searching for a new watch for a while, so why not see if this is the one for me!
Swatch Watch rhymes, plus they they are the timing sponsors on all sorts of cool events.
I had a swatch that i used to wear as my beater cheap vacation watch – was always there when i needed it. This is much better
Me and my friend having a fight just because i won a contest and the 1st winner get 1 set of swatch watch.. besides he’s the one that asked me to take part on that contest..
but he is my best friend.. we can get trough it..
I remember a friend’s new Swatch in 4th grade getting a lot of attention. It was neon green and matched his Nike pumps. I’m willing to bet that was the most stylish he will have ever been in his life.
My first watch purchase using my own money was a Swatch. I remembered it very well because i didnt want to take it off. I go to shower and sleep wearing my Swatch.
A swatch was the first watch I bought! I wore it as my main watch from 9th grade, through high school, through six years of college, and even through getting married.
The florescent orange face and florescent green hands were the height of fashion, or so I thought. It even had a florescent orange leather pattern printed on the plastic band. Thankfully when band broke so I replaced it with a more subdued black leather band, then another.
Now when I look at pictures of myself through those years it’s amazing how those bright colors jump out at you. Dorky? Yes.
I still love the watch, and recently put a fresh battery in it. It still works perfectly despite its many scratches and cracked crystal. I even wear it sometimes for fun, but it feels quite small and light compared to the metal automatics I wear most of the time.
These new automatic chronos from Swatch are gorgeous. I would love to wear one!
I have owned a Swatch Irony for over 10 years. Although the strap is broken the watch keeps perfect time and still looks nice!
Thanks
Love the swatch! I particularly like the strap, very sporty indeed!
As stated Swatches are the brand that brought the trend back to Swiss watches in the 80s. After really getting into watches when i was in college, I would love to own one of these original iconic Swiss timepieces.
This would be a great daily wearing watch i could add to my slowly expanding collection. Let me win!
I once had a “Centre Pompidou” swatch… It was completely clear, but the different gears and parts were painted contrasting bright colors. Apparently it was designed by the same guy who designed the Pompidou center, which is a modern art museum in Paris. That’s where I bought it…
This contest brings back memories of grade school. Trading straps, trading swatch guards and my favorite swatch of all-time, the Jelly Fish. If you didn’t have one, you simply weren’t cool! Although I have no idea what happened to my first “real” watch, it would be great to add a new one to my small (but growing!) collection! Thanks for another great giveaway!
I bought my first Swatch when I was preparing to take the LSAT because my IWC Portugese broke, so I needed an analog stopwatch and sure enough, Swatch was the only brand who had one in the 100$ range. Great watch and continue to wear it!
Fantastic looking watch with a reputable ETA movement. Love the style!
I would love to win this watch because my current watch fell into a toilet.
Recentely I have heard a lot about Swatcht watches and if I win this giveaway, it will be my first and I’m sure one of many, thanks for considering me.
Charlie
Hallo,
I was wearing a Casio digital watch as a kid in the 80’s. Then later in the 90’s Swatch became popular and when I was 18 years old, I had one. I liked it, but it broke, so I was wearing my old Casio again, which I still have (but don’t wear anymore). I’d like to try out a swatch again and I like the model shown above.
Kind regards from Berlin, Sven
I haven’t worn a Swatch for 10 years, but FWOAH, this is nice!
Everything I want in a watch I’m looking for now (I’ve pre-ordered the Praesto). Large, automatic, sapphire glass, rubber strap. Chrono is a bonus!
I know I won’t win this because I don’t reside stateside. But I can can still comment, yes?
Swatch watches make me smile. I had a Swatch during the Swatch craze in the 80’s. I was about 10 and it was my first real watch. Later in the 90’s I had a more adult Swatch while I was in college. Small, thin, light weight, attractive, and affordable. I have since graduated to nicer and more expensive watches, only to later find out my favorite brand, Hamilton, is owned by the Swatch Group. So, Yay for Swatch. Their influence in the watch world is undeniable.
bought my first swatch as a college freshman in 1982. same movement as in omega watches which I now own, great watch, great styling, excellent craftsmanship
Very sharp looking watch. I always loved Swatch because they made it possible for me to own an automatic even when I was a poor student.
my friends at school used to call me swatcher!
You can imagine why…
Now everyone can be an owner of an automatic watch.
Thank you Swatch
Swatch was the first Swiss watch I purchased and had a couple of these quartz powered timepieces back then, until I shifted to collecting other mechanical watches. Three years ago I chanced upon a Swatch Irony Automatic at a store not knowing that they were making mechanical watches years before. So I bought one along with a Fun Scuba which I found to be another unique Swatch design. Now that the YOU automatic has arrived it will be a nice addition to my second set of Swatch collections. It’s like going back to the roots.
I’ve never actually owned a Swatch. The answer why is simple. It was too expensive for me when I was young. When I became adult and started to earn I immediately went for RADO. However, I sometimes miss the feeling of having a quite cheap watch but reliable and that is the reason I would definitely go for Swatch. This reminds me an experience with a good friend of mine – a climber…he changes Swatch two times a year…always destroys one during climbing…but still go for another and the same model…
It would be an honor to win this Automatic Chrono Swatch. Although I have never been a Swatch owner before, why not start now?
I’ve owned Swatch watches before but moved up to other brands. But this Automatic Chrono Swatch is sharp and makes me want to take another look at the brand.
Freshman year in undergrad, I had a beautiful black and chrome Swatch “Irony.” It was a heavy piece and I was in the habit then, of taking my watch off before meals. I realized one afternoon I had left it in the cafeteria. I ran back there from my dorm, but it was, of course, gone. Switch to the next to last day of my sophomore year. After having reluctantly made the promise, I went to spend the night in the dorm room of some young lady, who happened to collect Swatch pieces too. She had the same “irony” piece. Apparently, she had found it in the cafeteria over a year before. I’m ashamed to say, but I took it. Without asking.
I used to own a swatch when i was much younger and my girlfriend is a huge fan. i love her watches like the bunnysutra which was just pure genius and cute. I recently bought her another swatch to add to her collection. i’m becoming a fan myself once again.
The best looking swatch watch they ever made. Would not beleive it’s a swatch.
When I was young and learning to tell time, I had an amazing Swatch ana-digi and it was great because I could check myself and make sure I was getting the time right. I am sad to say I lost that watch long ago but still love a Swatch and an ana-digi because of it.
Thanks for the giveaway ablogtoread and Swatch!!!!
Fantastic looking! I had a see-through one in middle school. Got it for Christmas and thought I would be pretty cool since I had not seen this model before but when I went back to shcool after winter break about a half dozen other kids got them for Christmas too.
I remember when the first swatches came on the scene, they were sooo trendy. I even remember some people thinking it was cool to wear a load of them at the same time, or one friend who used to wear it on their ankle!!
Very cool lookng Swatch Chrono that I would be proud to weear on my wrist!
My friend and I went through a “watch” phase where we spend hours reading reviews and articles on all the various kinds of watches out there. In the end I opted for a Rolex Explorer. My friend seemed interested too, he spent a lot of time researching the various Rolex models but in the end, after countless visits to an authorised dealer, he bought a Swatch instead and loves it.
I will burst into flames if I do not own one watch from each of the brands within the swatch group.
There is no more compelling reason above.
Send the watch to Ireland, you know it makes sense!
Because I do not watch, I always late to work
My lesbian neighbours gave me a Swatch for my
birthday. Its nice but,I think they misunderstood
me when I said I wanna watch.
Never had a Swatch (or anything from the Swatch Group, or that matter), but always wanted one.
Even though I have bought two “Swatches” for my wife in the past, I never paid too much attention to Swatch watches until recently, when I discovered the name Swatch is “behind the scenes” of many high-end swiss watch brands. Then I learned about these automatic watches with plastic parts, ETA-based movements. A clever idea that made automatic watches affordable.
I love swatch watches because they actually supply the timepeices for alot of high end watches. When I talk to my friends that swear by a brand and let them know this they don’t listen however I rest assured knowing that I have the original.
When I was a kid, me and my parents used to go to Switzerland every year. I was fascinated by Swiss clocks and watches, and every year I asked my parents for one. Unfortunately, I never got one … until I finally turned 12. My parents bought me my first watch: a genuine Swatch, with a red and black strap. I loved that thing, wore it every day for years to come, until I eventually turned to the dark side of seemingly cool digital watches with calculators. A few months ago, I found my first (S)watch again in the attic of my parent’s house, and I now proudly have it displayed on the shelf.
I’m now wearing a Reverso (the first Swiss watch I wore since my Swatch), but I would *love* to wear a Swatch in my more informal times, reminding me of my good childhood times in Switzerland.
I would love to win this watch for my watch addicted Husband. He is breaking the bank with his watch purchases…maybe if I win…he will be able to go a couple of months without buying another one!
mellisarock at yahoo dot com
Love Swatches. Specially automatic ones, I used to have a three-hander, and the Lemania 5100? Awesome chrono!
Wow! Nice looking watch. It would be nice to win this, as I do not have any Swiss mechanical movements in my collection. I really like the way the Swatch looks, as well.
Thanks for the great giveaways!
The first watch I ever wore was a Swatch watch. I “borrowed” it from my older sister when I was 10 years old. It originally had a bright yellow strap, which I immediately redesigned with a black permanent marker.
Unfortunately, the marker ran dry before I was able to finish one half of the strap, much to the amusement of my class mates.
Boy, I’m dating myself, but I remember years and years ago in the 10th grade, I had about 3 or 4 Swatches that I had collected over the past 2 years. Anyways, there was this cute girl in my class and she use to comment all the time about my swatches. We’ll you can guess what I did…I ended up giving her one! Nothing ever came out of it though as she wasn’t interested in me like that. She got a free watch, and I was less one. Although I think she knew exactly what she was doing. The things a teenage boy would do for “love”.
I love very much swiss watches particularly this
watch
That’s a great looking watch
I have never owned a Swatch watch. The only watches I have ever owned have been freebies that stopped working after a short time.
A Swiss friend of mine inherited a Swatch watch that charges up with movement from his father and it’s one of his most prized possessions as it holds many memories. I’d have to agree with him that it’s a masterpiece.
I would like to own the Swatch watch because I’ve never owned a decent watch before and it would be an honour to have a Swatch as my first decent watch. And when my time is up, pardon the pun, I’d proudly leave my Swatch in my will for my first child.
I would love to win this watch because I have recently lost the use of my trusty Citizen Eco-Drive, and something as majestic as this would be an excellent replacement on my wrist.
Greetings from Singapore!
I have been a Swatch fan since 1987! At that time when I first got the watch. It was very light, simple but effective and never failed me during my college days. Albeit a battery change though. I have owned a few more Swatches such as Baa Baa Black Sheep, Olympic collection, Kama Sutra, James Bond. These are prime collections of mine and my children will be the heir to my Swatch heirloom.
Hopefully I can add this to my Swatch heirloom!
My story is simple. It won’t tug at heart strings nor have an amazing plot. I am new to watch collecting and have yet to aquire a high-end movement chronograph, such as this “Simply Pure” Auto Chrono Swatch Watch. My first analog watch was a Swatch Watch. I feel it would be appropriate for my first true chronograph watch to be a Swatch Watch.
I would love to have a Swatch Watch because they are amazing and my old watch is starting to become inaccurate. Swatch watch’s are amazing, and as I said before, I would love to win one
First watch I had was Swatch simplest possible model. But I loved it. And then came my sister. Who loved it even more. My parents kindly asked me to give the watch to my sister and said that they will buy me some other watch. I obeyed but always have missed that particular watch. Which she has conveniently lost same year
So now some 20 years later it should be a good time to return to wearing the Swatch
i want
I’ve never actually owned a Swatch, so a free piece wouldn’t be a terrible way to start a collection!
I got my first Swatch in 1988 when I was in the 5th grade. I remember it was neon orange, black, yellow, and green. I had the crystal protector rubber band on it too. It was my favorite watch. I still have it too!
I would love to win this! I remember I used to have different Swatches and loved the bright colors and fun designs!
The first “Swiss” watch I ever bought myself was a Swatch, it was the mid 80’s when they were all the rage. Later, after developing a passion for watches, a Swatch Irony was the first automatic watch I bought myself. I kick myself for not holding on to those firsts, little did I know they were the start of a life long passion of collecting watches.
Wow!!!
Cool mechanical watch from Swatch Group. That is not their first automatic movement but this one is very nice chronograph automatic watch and i will enjoy in wearing this fine time keeper if i won it.
Best regards
The truth is I have never owned any Swatch Watches. In fact I am a watch enthusiast who only has 2 watches (none being high end). I have always liked the look and feel of swatches. I also understand that they last forever and are extremely durable. As a person looking to begin a vast watch collection I would love to own this watch. I love the idea of owning an automatic and I also love the style of this particular watch. Thanks for the opportunity!
Hi Ariel:
I am influential, charismatic and easy to get along with. People from all walks of life ask for my opinion. I can bake cakes that normally take 45 minutes in 15 minutes. I am an A list actor in my spare time. I have sold ice cubes to eskimos and walked across red hot coals bare foot. I appreciate the finer things in life.
For all my wisdom and knowledge, I have yet to own a Swatch watch. I have been late on my last two occasions. This just isn’t like me. I would appreciate the watch.
Thank you, Glenn
I want to freak out my “Rolex only” friends.
Amazing watch. Would love to receive one!!!
prefer the black one at:
http://www.watchreport.com/2009/11/swatch-automatic-chronographs-introduced.html
since it has a tachymeter scale.
bought 7 solar swatches about 10 years ago to give to friends.
bought & sold automatic swatch
will check out the black one when it gets to Perth, Western Australia.
Ah yes, the Swatch watch. How I coveted those in my youth long before my love affair with watches. The closest I got was getting and Expo 86 watch which mimicked the styling of Swatch but was not actually a Swatch. Years later, after marriage and my watch mistresses my wife informs me how much she misses her old Swatch and I take it upon myself to find her some. She now has 3 Swatch automatics and I still have none. Funny the things we do for love eh? I’m pleased to see Swatch has automatic chronographs now and look forward to future reviews of the watches.
Swatch is my dream watch. I own an Irony Swatch 3 years ago as a gift from my lovely wife. I wear it everyday and everywhere. It is really solid and tough. It keeps time precisely and never miss even a second. As a watch collector, Swatch is definitely my first choice. The long awaited Swatch automatic chrono is now hot in the market. It stand out of all other watches and make all watch collectors irresistibly to own one…
Looks like they’re stuff has improved since I wore one in college 20+ years ago…
I had a great time with my 1993 Swatch Mezzoforte. It was my ‘grad school’ Swatch: light on the wrist when carrying laptop and books! Love the Porsche Design influence!
My first watch was a swatch. I destroyed or lost every single one of them over the years. I didn’t realize how fond of them I was until I saw a picture of the very first one I received. Now I’m trying to hunt down (from memory) some of my most favorite ones to rebuild my collection.
Simply Pure and Simply Nice!
I’ve always wanted a swatch ever since i started my collection. This is an amazing watch and i would love to win it. Its one of the coolest looking watches i’ve ever seen.
I was wearing my Swatch iron when I had a client who was wearing a Rado watch. He asked if I was willing to switch my Swatch with his Rado, but I had not enough ice in my stomach to say yes. I have always wondered if he really meant it.
I am sorry to say that after diving to 30m my Swatch passed off. Seeing this Swatch automatic chrono made me wish to wear a Swatch again. Then I could put my certina back in its box.
My old Omega Geneve is not so precise anymore after passing a hospital laundry. My Certina gold is not for daily use. I really need the Swatch. And it is a real watch too, and not some cheap electronic device.
Swatch watches are amazing; always in style and they can run forever!
Source: My first 2 watches were Swatches
decent design..but i think the rubber strap badly affects the statement this watch could have otherwise made..so this one would better suit to my younger brother..
I really love the amazing creativity in all the Swatch watches, and this chrono is something I’d love to wear. I did not purchase a watch for myself for Christmas so I’d like to put a watch under the tree.
Happy Holidays to everyone!
Would love to receive one!!!
I had always wanted a swatch, growing up. I finally got my first a few years ago on my honeymoon. My wife teased me about going all the way to Florence to buy a Swatch. But it was everything I ever wanted (minus the wacky color schemes of the 80’s) the only problem with it, was the battery. It ran out And the watch got misplaced. How great would it be to have a Swatch that wound its self!
Swatches are cool

Very nice watch!
My experience with Swatch began with the huge popular success of Swatch rushing into the US market in the 80’s. Every popular kid on the block had one. Except me, never got to own one. I was never popular and my parents never had the sense of what cool was, they definitely had a sense for what was cheep and on sale. So I guess “fun” in this sense was appreciating what others had, and I could appreciate how they fit in. Who am I kidding, it sucked, I hated those kids… And no I don’t own one today, so I guess this time piece would be a hawking back to those days with snobbery of saying, this one is automatic and it’s better than yours!
I is essential for me to own this swatch autochrono!
I love it and i need it!
Of course..
I had a first-series Swatch from 1983-84 that was my only watch until it finally gave up the ghost in 1999 — not the movement, but the lugs on the plastic case. I still have a basic black Swatch as my ‘garage’ watch for when I work on the car (a 1969 Daimler V8-250). I’d love the chance to try out a new Swatch automatic chrono.
Bought an “Octopussy” Swatch from the Bond villains series, because it has a quote (neatly engraved on the bezel) from General Orlov, who happens to have the same name as my grandpa. It goes: “Yes but tommorrow I shall be a hero of the Soviet Union”.
My first watch was a Swatch given to me by my father. I still wear it today.
I like it and it is hard to beat that price for an automatic. My wife was always a swatch fan and owned several in our youth — until I spoiled her with a higher end watch or two. She would really like this one, for sure. If I were to win it, it would be hers as she likes a larger watch. Swatch could likely count on her returning to the fold! Thank you for the chance.
I received a clear swatch as a present from my mom in High School. I think she was trying to encourage punctuality. As if it were my ignorance of knowing what time it was that was making me late for school. Anyway, the best thing about the watch were those rubber swatch guards that were all the rage. You took and twisted them around so they ran through the dial at 6 and 12. We all thought we were so cool back in the 80’s…
The old swatch jellyfish was the first watch my older sister ever owned and I really wanted it. This would be a nice resolution to my childhood desire.
I don’t have any particular Swatch stories except to say I definitely remember how huge they were among me and my friends back when I was a kid (of course, with the quartz pop culture watches, not something like this). I’d definitely love to win one of these to have a really nice Swiss mechanical watch, and I do agree with your review that it looks quite striking.
I fell in love with analog watches because of my Swatch skin chrono. I bought it in the late 90s in UK and wore it constantly. An unfortunate incident in a gym locker room had it removed from my possession and I was never able to replace it.
Many analog watch later and even with the launch of my own design (I am the designer of the Prometheus Ocean Diver line) I still covet the Swatch watches. Form meets function – absolutely perfect. The newer Swatch watches take the design and simplicity of use to whole new level. It would be great to own (even win) another Swatch watch, but at the very least I wanted to share my story with you all. Damn I wish I still had that watch!
Nice watch.
I collect watches.. but not got a Swatch..
This one would be for every day….
the last swatch i owned was the Halley’s Comet watch,
wish i still had it, that was a long time ago.
I remember getting my first swatch watch for Christmas in the 6th grade. My mom even purchased the geeky crystal protector for me. That was a very very long time ago. That one swatch set off my love of watches which has continued on. By the way, I still have it.
I remember when having a Swatch was the watch to have in High School (class ‘84) along with parachute pants. My family could not afford to get me either. Today I am thankful that I never got the parachute pants – but I still want the Swatch.
Love the watch. Swatch has really raised the bar over the last few years, and since it the closest I will likely ever come to owning a Speedmaster, I got to have it. No better way to celebrate the New Year than with a new watch.
Wishing Everyone the best for 2010!
A Swatch with Sapphire Crystal, that’s a first!
First of all, congratulations on your website. About the Swatch, let me tell you, that is the first good looking Swatch I have seen in a long time. And the fact that it is an automatic (with a new movement I may add) makes it even better. I hope I get lucky, here which usually isn’t my thing.
Somehow I missed out on the original Swatch revolution, but I have been looking recently. Even the lesser-priced Swatches are good products. I was looking at some quartz models the other day at Nordstrom (one of the few places to find them locally I think) and the second hands all hit their marks perfectly!
You got Swatch… the others just watch! Is so true, i love it.
My favorite Swatch to date: the “To Che” (Guevara) #GJ115 in red and gold with a portrait of Che. I make a point of wearing it to important investment banking meetings.
I can’t remember my first Swatch, but I think it was a “Jellyfish”. At the time, nothing was cooler than a see-through watch. Welcome to 1985.
The time when I was start wearing watches is when I was a kid.For some time,in the era of new technologies, only watch I have is on my cell phone.
I remember the graffity “how much watch on your swatch” like a funny joke on a bad english that anyone understand and translation should be “how time is it?” in some funny way.Swatch is a brand all around the world and I would be greatly onored to start wearing again watches with this one particulary.
Happy New Year!
I love the new Swatches. I have had many growing up and now have several from the entire Swatch family.
I love swatch watches.
I just don’t see the point of it. Neither do you, I suspect.
im quite curious since the lemania 5100 was a workhorse utility movement, i wonder how the ETA el cheapo equivalent mesures up to the original,
the diesel engine of the watch world,
When I was recently on tour in Europe, I asked a local friend of mine what some good Swiss watch companies were (that I could afford) and she mentioned Swatch! Happy Christmas to all from a hopeful Swatch owner
yeh! a great watch
My wife bought me a Swatch watch for our wedding. I always think of her when I look at it. The man who sold it to me started me on my journey of learning about timepieces.
Love the look of the watch. I have never owned a Swatch before, but would be proud to wear this one. Plus I don’t have an automatic chronograph watch.
Never had one, maybe it is my time now. It would be the first thing I ever won…
hikss … i want it … swearrrr
How very nice! An elegant watch, indeed. Synchronize Swatches!
Beautiful and elegant Swatch..Would love to have it one for me…
I was never a big fan of Swatch, but this one in particular I just might purchase due to the fact from what I remember from their past model’s (back in the 80’s & 90’s).
My first one was s swatch and i lost it years ago. It would be so nice to have another, new one…
My mother purchased a Swatch for me when she was coming back from a trip to Europe about 26 years ago. She saved for over 5 years to take this trip with her childhood best friend. The watch is still with me, I haven’t worn it for over 15 years – the strap is too tight for me – but I have always kept the watch running, I think I have been through 4 batteries. My youngest daughter wears the watch now, from time to time.

This would be my very first watch. At 18 years of age my generation has always used a cell phone to tell time.
The older people in my life all wear watches. So I have decided that I would like to join their ranks.
This would be a great watch to start with. I already know that I prefer mechanical watches. As I am interested in how mechanical things work in general.
I’ve never owned an automatic chronograph watch, and that swatch looks pretty nice. Please enter me in the contest.
On a watch discussion forum in which I participate, a colleague aptly summed up the range of his (and my) passion for watches. “[A certain breed of watch enthusiasts] have this in common, I think. We like things at opposite ends of the spectrum – from sophisticated dress-watches to near-cartoonish creations moulded in brightly-coloured plastic. And we have a tendency to wear them interchangeably!”
That sums it up nicely. I have always appreciated the design and ingenuity evident in Swatch watches. There is also a playfulness, an appreciation of color and variety and a willingness in various special editions to give artists a “palette” on which to express themselves (and some of the artist creations are among my favorite watches).
Also refreshing in Swatches is their ability to provide the customer with some of the best ingenuity and innovative watch making around — at price points and with designs that nicely puncture the stuffiness and snobbery that can found in some corners of the Swiss watch world.
I’d love an example of this latest Swatch movement!
Thanks.
I’m always interested in viewing Swatch styles because of the quirky brand name. However, until this chrono, precious few have appealed to me. I’m a big chrono and diver watch geek, so this one sort screams to me.
I began collecting watches a few years ago. I remember Swatches from when I was in high school and college and always thinking they were inexpensive, plastic watches. Of course I am much wiser now when it comes to watches.
Love to win this beauty!
Thanks.
I love this!!! The black case is awesome but this case looks amazing. I have been wanting a Swiss automatic chronograph for so long and this totally fits the bill. Only Swatch could pull this off, and I thought I was a Swatch Group fan before. I would love this piece.
I’ve never had a Swatch, but I would love to win one. It looks like a cool watch from the picture.
A green transparent swatch was my first Swiss watch.
I love that nobody comments on anything unless there is something free to be received. Terrible.
Funny, I still use an old Swatch quartz as a benchmark to time my expensive automatics!
I love chronos, and I’m very excited about this entry level mechanical chrono. It will lure a lot of quartzie followers across the Rubicon to the other side!
I’ve never owned or looked at getting a swatch before, but i’ll sure as hell start now if i win this timepiece! It’s unlike any other swatch watches you can come across in Australia so it would be ace to rock one that no one in the country would normally see!
I’m relatively new to the world of watches. My first exposure came in 2004 when a close friend told me about his new purchase of an IWC Portugese. Another friend turned me on to ablogtoread.com, which I have been visiting with increasing frequency over the last 6mos. After having two friends highly recommend Swatch, I read last week’s review of the Swatch Automatic Chrono Silver Class with great interest and am seriously considering it as my next purchase!
We are a Swatch family. I felt a little silly when I bought another for my wife this holiday and found out afterward that the reason I liked it so much in the store was because I’d already bought it for her a few years before.

I would love to be the winner of this watch. Nice look and size and no way that I could afford it otherwise. Liked the review of the similar model so it’d be nice to get this one.
My Swatch story. Back in 1993 I was on the set shooting a TV commercial for Burdines dept.store in Dadeland Mall located in Miami, FL at lunch I walked around the mall and stopped at a booth that was selling Swatch watches and found a very nice black on black chrono, so I purchased it and when we started to shoot again a few crew people noticed this new watch and asked me about it. I still own this watch but have not worn it in a few years. That’s my story and by winning this watch you will give me a chance to tell another over time. Thanks

My first watch as a kid was a swatch watch – I loved that jelly-plastic clean designed watch. Sadly, being the rambunctious over-sized kid I was, 5′10″ in eigth grade, the watch lasted less than a week before being crushed in a vicious game of kick ball. I’ve been soured on the game of kick ball ever since.
I am just getting into watch collecting and learning about high end watches. This blog has definitely helped my education into this hobby that I am just getting into. I do not have a swatch yet, but this is one watch that I would like to add to my collection soon. Great blog – thanks!
Swatch watch is unique.
They don’t say it is limited edition but it is almost like limited edition to the season’s collection. Because next year, you won’t see most of them.
I would love to win this fantastic Swatch’s first automatic chrono. Plastic case is so cool and in fact very rare on automatic watch. And it is brand neeeeeew~~!
My first watch was the ” jelly fish” see thru/clear ones, it lasted for years, still keep the watch in my drawer for keepsake. I’ve had several of them from thereon, I had an Uncle who travelled to Switzerland a lot for a couple of years and I would always ask him to buy me the latest, limited edition ones….it was pretty cool back then to have the different ones, so I was the “swatch kid”. I remember the kids liking my swatches so much that they ordered some from me thru my uncle at a premium (because they were the latest ones, unavailable at the local stores or so I remember). Made quite a bundle….started my enterpreneurial spirit…still have some old chronograph swatches working….this new ones will take me back to the good old days.
Nice watch. I have never owned a Swatch watch, so this would be a nice first
. Thx, -T-
I’d like to win the watch because I am about to buy a Swatch for my wife; so it would be cool to get one for me to match. Thanks.
Hey what’s wrong with this free Swatch that I just won? Did you guys send me one with a dead battery? Come on!
My very first watch at the age of 8 was a Swatch my sister bought for me while I lived on the island of Saipan as a kid. I didn’t appreciate watches but I did like how glittery and big it was. I lost it. I then purchased a Casio something which shocked my arm and died while I was swimming.
I wear mostly IWCs now and I don’t think I’d say I’d trade one for that first Swatch but I sure wish I still had that first glittery watch that started it all.
I know you have an aversion for watches in the gym, but I might be able to convince you about a couple of situations where wearing one would be necessary. I use a Timex $19.99 special to time rest intervals between either sets, sprints, or circuits. The gym clocks are either too small to read the seconds hand or non-existent. If I win the Swatch, don’t worry. I won’t be using it there!
I have never owned a swatch watch. So I don’t have any funny stories to relay regarding a swatch. However, winning this watch would be a blast.
Thanks for the chance to win.
Shaun
I have always wanted a mechanical chronograph, but they are generally out of my price range. The Swatch is pretty intriguing, Swiss, Mechanical, and less than $400!
Swatch watches were big for me in the 80’s I had a paper route, My father recomended I get a watch to deliver my papers on time to my customers, So he took me on one of my first bus rides to the Mall, a store here in Mich called J.L. Hudson’s to purchase my first watch, Because of the colorful display case,I was attracted to the swatches. I choose a dark blue, with black and white stripes on it as my first watch.
I’d like to win a Swatch, as I don’t own one, and this one looks quite cool!
I´ve had lots of Swatches over the years, probably my best story is about my Crazy 8(GN 125)
which I never got to wear the watch. Because my wife put it on and kept it on! She´s normally not very watch interested so I was delighted!
I keep learning more and more about Swatch, but never owned one. This one has the great combo of classic looks, a good movement and an affordable price. It keeps me looking at them.
why? because it is IT.
I used to get a new Swatch every summer in the mid 1980’s when I was in jr/sr. high school. My parents would buy one in the summer resort town on the NJ Shore/Beaches. They were great watches and I still have all of them.
as for the past years I’ve seen the latest and new models of Swatch, I’ve had my eye on them for quite a long time but never had experienced having one. I wish to have one to be respected to those who think lowly of me and those who have negativity on me. I’d like to award myself with pride by wining the Swatch, for atleast a short time to enjoy it because this model is like a compilation of some of the classic models that Swatch has and if i am rewarded of it, then i may be able to write some fun moments that it will give me.
The strange thing, or maybe not, is that Swatch was the first fashionable wristwatch i learned about. Later when i became interested in high-end mechanical watches, i never gave them a look… there was a battery inside. It wasn’t until i read how Nicolas Hayek saved the Swiss watch industry in the eighties, by creating this brand, before i could really see it in perspective… and started to appreciate what this funky designed, highly popular wristwatch meant for the industry i loved so much.
That’s when i incidentally stumbled across a Swatch with an automatic movement, that i really liked. I just had to have it and it’s still in my collection. I was totally amazed how much value you could get for your money.
When the automatic chronograph was released i was totally amazed when i heard the price…. and i thought, they do it again! Very, very impressive!
This brand could well be the most significant brand of the entire Swiss watch industry. Maybe not because of mighty complications… but because they managed to make watches into a fashion item… and this makes people *think* about a watch instead of take it for granted.
Hi, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of an automatic chronograph by Swatch. I was one of the very first Swatch owners in Belgium back in the very beginning, 1983 if I’m not mistaking. My parents baught me a full black version with a gold tone logo and hands, no hour indication on the black dial. At first I wasn’t really happy because it had very simple and basic looks. But then it seemed that Swatch was becoming the next hot thing so I grew very fond of it. I’ve had several other models since then and I’m really excited about this new masterpiece (let’s not forget that this is a Swatch). As it has an ETA-based mechanical movement, it should prove to be extremely precise and a joy to have. Sure, there are other brands, but let’s face it, none have the specific appeal of a Swatch.
I promise that I won’t ask about the battery not working if I win it!
I was a good boy all year. When it came time for Christmas, I sent Santa Clause a letter asking him for a Swatch.
On Christmas morning, I woke up to a new bike roller for my road bike. It was my number two gift, but I feel like Santa really dropped the ball this year. This Swatch would make my Christmas complete!
SWATCH has always held a juggernaut position in the watch world. From so many innovation such as injected plastics processes to integrated manufacturing practices, SWATCH will always be linked with quality, dependability and stylish design. Even those who don’t know one iota about watches know what a SWATCH is.
I myself do not have very many watches but this watch would be a great addition to my small collection. Thank you for the opportunity.
I would love to win this watch because I have wanted to add both a swatch and a swiss auto chrono to my collection and this would kill 2 with 1. Thanks for considering me and happy new year!
Hello,
I’m wondering about this watch from it’s start. To win it would be great. That is one of my dreams watch.
Happy new year!
Swatch has come a long way since silver spoons
I was born wearing a SWATCH. It recently gave out and I need a new one!
Lived through Swatch mania, growing up. Upgraded to an Omega automatic as a young professional. I am now ready to go back to the Swatch niche market of excellence in watch making and customer service.
Probably too late to enter, but I have always considered Swatches to be such fun and have given them as gifts. This is such a serious watch, more to my personal style!

The time was 6 o’clock on the Swatch watch got a date, can’t be late, hey…..
My Swatch watch collections are one of my favorite childhood memories. I had a different color for every outfit I wore back then, even with my pegged pants, hot pink scrunch socks, and my hair in a ponytail on the side of my head. I have been trying to find those old school Swatch watches for a long time now and can’t seem to find them! Unfortunately, as bad as I desperately want a Swatch, I can’t afford one =( If I win a free Swatch, I will make sure I show it off to everyone and make them buy one for themselves! I seriously hope Swatch watches are the only thing from the 80’s that comes back in style!
And I am, of course, too late. Go figure.
