I concour with Phillippe. It is FP that attacked JD in 2005 through a case in which the demand was about the desing copy of their line of Octa watches. However, JD argued that their design comes from an early 1900’s pocket watch which gave the battle win to JD. Court then made FP pay for damages to JD for an estimate amount of € 20,000.

The reason is looks like FP Journe attacked Jaquet Droz is because the case attached is an appeal. Meaning that FP Journe is actually attacking Jaquet Droz based on the opinion of the previous court. But it was originally Jaquet Droz that brough the case as far as I can tell. Further, FP Journe tried to assert as a defense that Jaquet Droz used older designs, but the court did not buy this fact. While it is true I don’t speak French, as a lawyer I do speak “legalese.”

I’m French and maybe I can be of some help. But in this (watch) case, from what I heard it’s FP Journe that attacked JD and not the other way around.
The court statued that JD used the dial pattern in an ancient pocket watch face anyway…
